We work directly with local partners to design, test, and share practical, passive solutions that respond to extreme heat, humidity, and energy insecurity. But we have a realistic, science-informed long-term view, so we also recognise that as climate change becomes more extreme, we need to future proof buildings to allow future retrofit with optimised, robust and affordable mechanical cooling and ventilation systems - as and when passive techniques are no longer adequate. This represents a two-step process, where the first step must anticipate the second.
